Transform Your Bathroom into a Luxurious Spa

Who doesn’t love a spa day? Leaving the cares of the world behind by escaping into a steamy, luxurious oasis that relaxes and rejuvenates the body and mind is something we all could use these days.

Well, what if you could make that escape an everyday occurrence? Our friendly San Luis Obispo plumbers have come up with three ways to transform your bathroom into a luxurious spa for your own personal retreat.

Make it a Sanctuary

Toothbrushes, makeup and shaving kits strewn across your bathroom’s countertops can ruin any spa-like setting. Add storage areas to get that clutter out of sight.

Adding greenery is another way to make your bathroom feel more appealing and sophisticated. Succulents or “air plants” are easy to maintain, and eucalyptus can give your bathroom a fresh scent.

Art is often overlooked in the bathroom, but it’s another easy way to give it a sophisticated feel. Relaxing visual themes, such as ocean waves or landscapes, are a great way to add to the vibe.

A Treat for the Senses

The spa experience always starts with the aroma when you walk through the doors. Experiment with aromatherapy blends to help aid your relaxation. For the tub, add aromatic essential oils to regular Epsom salts for a professional mineral bath that is a treat for the senses.

Turn off those harsh overhead lights and bathe the room in candlelight. Don’t be afraid to mix large and small pillars with votives and tea lights; just choose a single scent to keep the aromas from clashing.

Also, consider replacing old, threadbare towels with fluffy, oversized spa sheets. Add plush bath rugs and the comfiest robes you can find to hang from the door. If you have a shower curtain, consider replacing it with a luxurious, spa-style curtain to add to add another visual element to the transformation.

Consider your Fixtures

For a more comprehensive transformation, consider upgrading some of your old-school fixtures if your bathroom is more functional than fabulous.

Heated floors add a touch of comfort and luxury, and they’re easier and less expensive to install than you may think.

A multifunctional shower can be as simple as installing a massage showerhead. Or you can completely renovate to create a rain shower, soaking tub and steam bath or sauna. Consider adding a sitting area to soak in a Scandinavian-type experience before finishing with a cool shower under your rain showerhead.

Create a “spa bar” with a coffee maker, wine cooler and makeup application area. You can even add a TV to display scenes that will add to the soothing nature of the setting.

There’s also plenty of new bathroom tech to add to the experience: Bluetooth speakers, digital shower controller, smart mirrors with voice command and adjustable lights and a smart toilet with lighting and a heated seat are just a few options.
